General Info
The Keowee River Scarecrow Festival is an eclectic mix of family fun based around outdoor adventure and the whimsical celebration of an American hero...The Scarecrow! The event supports The Foothills Area Family YMCA and builds community through the support of the performing, natural, and cultural heritage of the region while providing distinctive life experiences in an exceptional waterfront venue. It is the harvest theme that adds warmth but it is organizers' attention to detail that methodically encourages adventure and each individual's need to explore...this year's event features a mosaic mixture of visual artistry, live music, distinctive flavors, along with abundant opportunities to participate in outdoor adventures in the beautiful fall colors.

The Keowee River Scarecrow Contest has been designed to encourage community, businesses, organizations, and artists of all ages to design and build unique scarecrows for display and cash prizes. All scarecrows are placed in a silent auction from which the proceeds are donated to the future Foothills Area Family YMCA. The Keowee River Scarecrow Contest takes place the last weekend of September at Keowee River in Seneca, SC. Let your Scarecrow promote your business...It's a great team building exercise.
